Lars MikkelsenWhen he was 27, he enrolled at the National Theatre School of Denmark where he graduated in 1995. Alongside his appearance in the drama series aired globally as The Killing, he subsequently was a part of two other internationally highly acclaimed Danish dramas, Those Who Kill and Borgen III.He was also a key part in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American TV series House of Cards, he played the role of President Russia. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his performance in the Danish television drama Herrens Veje, which was shown in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride Upon the Storm. Mikkelsen is fluent in English, Swedish, German and Danish in addition to his mother tongue. He has also learned several accents. He claims that he and his brother initially started learning English by listening to Monty Python records and learning the comedy sketches
